The mobile payments company Fortumo is announcing today that it has partnered with the leading Turkish mobile operator Turkcell to start providing an in-app purchasing solution for its
AppMarket app store. Android developers can now earn additional revenue with Fortumo’s 1-click direct payment solution from 35 million Turkcell customers.

“Discovery of apps has became a huge problem for Android developers – it is very hard to stand out among millions apps in Google Play. Alternative app stores such as Turkcell AppMarket are becoming viable option for many developers to reach new users, especially in emerging markets. Together with the region’s leading operator, Turkcell, we’ll enable developers to increase in-app purchases income using direct carrier billing,” said Gerri Kodres, SVP of Business Development and Carrier Relations at Fortumo.

Turkcell launched its AppMarket app store in late 2008 to give content support for all java and android mobile handsets and tablets. AppMarket’s goal is to encourage both Turkish and global developers to develop mobile applications, support local developers, enable them to reach more smartphone users in Turkey and increase the market share of mobile handset and tablet manufacturers and mobile brands. Turkcell AppMarket is managed by the leading Turkish mobile entertainment company
Basari Mobile.

Hundreds of top developers – including Gameloft, GLU Mobile, EA Mobile, Rovio and Creative Mobile – are already using Fortumo in-app purchasing in their Android and Windows Phone apps. Developers interested in adding in-app purchasing to their Android apps and publishing them in Turkcell AppMarket can
get started here.

Fortumo has previously announced partnerships with
Telenor and
SlideME as well as with number of Chinese appstores for providing an in-app purchasing solution for developers in these stores. Fortumo solution gives developers the capability to collect payments from many stores through just one SDK integration. Fortumo also works with leading device manufacturers like
ZTE to preload developer apps into smartphones and tablets.
