Happy New Year to everyone! We will be starting our 2014 event attendance with CES International in Las Vegas tomorrow.
CES 2014 will be a bit different because last year smartphones reached majority amongst mobile devices in the States. With less people entering the smartphone market than in previous years, app developers are faced with rising customer acquisition costs and smaller app download numbers.
So what is there to be done in a situation like this? Fortunately only Western markets are slowing down - in countries like India smartphones still make up a fraction of mobile devices and the biggest growth is still ahead. India is expected to overtake the United States and place second after China in the number of smartphone owners by 2016.
It’s not only India that is highly attractive - many emerging markets in Central & Eastern Europe, South-East Asia and Middle-East are still growing rapidly in smartphone ownership while most developers have not been focusing on them.
