Here’s an update on the connections and platform improvements we have been working on over the last couple of months.

In case you’ve missed previous updates and news, you can check them out in our Q1 2020 and Q2 2020 recaps.

New connections

The following telcos are now available on Hosted DCB:

The following telcos and improvements are now available on Web SDK:

  • Egypt: Etisalat (23% market share)
  • Iraq: Asiacell (57% market share)
  • Netherlands: higher price points (up to €50) now available
  • Poland: higher price points (up to €50) now available

Hosted DCB product improvements

Hosted DCB gives merchants access to Fortumo’s direct carrier billing connections while the checkout flow is managed by Fortumo. This makes launching multiple telcos through one integration scalable and removes the need to localize checkout flows. During Q3, the following features were added to Hosted DCB:

  • Added support for remote authorisation, which enables users to be remotely authorized for the payment. Usage of the remote authorisation flow is documented here
  • Added option to test failed subscription renewals to Sandbox Mode which allows testing subscription failures after the first subscription cycle. Usage of testing failed subscription renewals is documented here

Bundling Platform improvements

Fortumo’s Bundling Platform lets streaming services (VOD, music, cloud gaming) easily set up multiple bundle and reselling offers with telcos (mobile operators, TV and STB providers, ISP-s) through one integration. During Q3, the following features were added to the Bundling Platform:

  • Added option to suspend & resume bundles for individual subscribers through backend API calls. This feature is primarily intended for usage with prepaid audiences, whose service access may be cancelled due to an insufficient balance. Resuming the service via API means the user will not need to go through the full activation flow again. The full technical overview of the Bundling Platform and its capabilities is documented here

General improvements

  • Payment refunds on Fortumo’s platform can be done automatically through the Refund API and helps save time on manually processing refunds
  • German localization added to Terms of Usage in Fortumo’s Customer Support Portal

New research

  • Western Europe market report published, profiling carrier billing in Germany, France, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Austria, Switzerland and Ireland
  • Asia market report published, profiling carrier billing in Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Taiwan and Cambodia
