MediaNama: #MWC14: Fortumo’s Gerri Kodres on India, Boku, direct carrier billing API’s & more

Zee group owned video platform Ditto TV is now allowing potential customers to buy subscription packs through their telecom operator, via a partnership with Estonia based billing service provider Fortumo. Payments can be made both by postpaid and prepaid customers, for content from 70 LIVE TV channels and on-demand video capabilities. Fortumo has also partnered with TenSports, to allow them to sell access to sports events on a pay per view basis in India for around Rs 10 per game online, and is in the process of rolling out a partnership with music streaming service Hungama. After its partnership with Times of India group owned Box TV, the company has also enabled subscriptions for Box TV in Singapore and the UK. Box TV said that enabling international subscriptions through telcos helped drive subscriptions up threefold in India (thought it hasn’t commented on the exact number of subscribers and active users).
